'Atlantis Press' was an imprint established in 1923 by the WMMS, initially to produce English language materials for West African primary schools. William T. Balmer's Catechism of Christian Experience followed and was translated into several West African tongues and into Shona (ZimbabweZimbabwe (formerly Southern Rhodesia)). Primers and readers in African languages, as well as books in English for African Christians, were published in conjunction with the Book Depots in Lagos and Cape Coast, until the 1960s.
