UMFC minister, born on 12 March 1834. He was stationed in various parts of the Midlands and the North and held various secretarial positions, culminating in that of Connexional Secretary from 1883 to 1884 and President of the Conference in 1884. His chief contribution to the life of the denomination was his share in the compiling (with William Boyden) of the Free Methodist Handbook (1877 and 1887). In 1899 he published a much larger version, The Free Methodist Manual... Origin, Doctrines and Constitution of the UMFC... from 1836 to 1898. He retired to Derby in 1902, where he died on 28 February 1918.
