Ferguson, Dr Joseph
1838-1904; e.m. 1861

PM minister and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, was born at Brierley Hill on 22 October 1838. He was the first editor of the *PM World. In 1897 he delivered the first Hartley Lecture, on the Holy Spirit. He was President of the 1891 Conference and a delegate to three Ecumenical Methodist Conferences. He was awarded a degree from Nebraska University and died on 8 July 1904. His son Robert William Ferguson was born in Birmingham on 13 July 1874, entered the ministry in 1900 and died on 13 April 1922.
