PM minister, son of Arthur Temple Wardle (1844-1914; e.m. 1867). He was born at Sheerness and educated at Cambridge and Hartley College. Apart from 1917 to 1919, when he was a forces chaplain, he was a tutor atHartley (and Hartley-Victoria) College from 1903 to 1934, when he became Principal. An OT scholar, he gave the Hartley Lecture in 1925 on Israel and Babylon. He was President of the Conference in 1938. He died on 31 August 1946.
